Dr. Sarah Hulland was born in Guelph, ON, where she was very active in music, participating in many sports and volunteering with different charities.
As an adult, Dr. Hulland maintains her active lifestyle and still enjoys many of the same activities in addition to caring for her patients. For her, one of the most enjoyable aspects of being a pediatric dentist is the ability to “play”
at work: helping children see that a healthy body and lifestyle will keep them smiling forever!
Dr. Sarah Hulland specializes in dental trauma as well as pediatric patients with special needs and complex medical issues. Many of the children she works with have significantly compromised medical conditions, severe behavior management issues, developmental delays, and autism.
Dr. Hulland is committed to a lifetime of learning. In addition to completing Specialist training in Pediatric Dentistry, she has completed an extra year of training in medically complex and special needs care. Her ongoing pursuit of continuing dental care ensures each of her patients receives appropriate treatment for their particular interests. Additionally, Dr. Hulland presents educational seminars, participates in research, and has published numerous articles.
Currently, Dr. Hulland teaches at the University of Alberta, lecturing 3rd and 4th-year students in courses on Management of Dental Trauma and Psychology.

The dental assistants at ABC Pediatric Dentistry are part of our integrated healthcare team that provides oral care to patients. They perform a number of duties throughout the day, including collecting patient information, preparing and maintaining dental instruments and equipment, assisting Dr. Hulland’s inpatient care, and preparing dental materials for restorations. A vital aspect of dental assisting involves communication with patients to achieve and maintain optimal oral health as an integral part of well-being.
Our Dental assistants have all successfully completed high school with an emphasis on sciences including biology and chemistry. Dental assistant programs provide training in areas including microbiology and infection control, preventive dentistry, dental radiography, clinical assisting procedures, and community dental health. In addition, all of our Dental Assistants maintain a valid CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) Level C certificate.
